I just had the weirdest dream......
My father and I were at a mall that I've frequented many times in my dreams before. He bought a wig at a shop in the center of the aisle and cut all the hair short....then preceded to walk around the mall asking people to donate hair for his wig. Meanwhile I stayed back by this aisle shop on a bench where a bunch of people were convening. All of a sudden this lady next to me squatting by the bench goes into labor. Her contraction is so powerful that she gets knocked off balance and rolls over onto her backside. I offer a hand to get back up to her squatting position and a doctor comes over to assist. I'm still holding her hand and every time she has a contraction she squeezes it. i remember thinking that this is strange that a complete stranger finds comfort in me holding her hand. Then my alarm went off and I woke up.
Weird, huh?

Two Days!
I am moving to RI in just two days! A couple of weekends ago Mom and I went up to find me an apartment. And we found one that is absolutely perfect and beautiful! Yay! Anyway, Saturday is the big day. I've already gotten electricity turned on, internet capabilities paid for (hopefully it won't be hard to set up) and everything's packed for the most part! I'll have to post pictures once I get settled in.
Peace out girl scouts!

Moving.....again
So, I'm super excited, terrified, overwhelmed, happy, ecstatic, nervous, and just about everything else all rolled into one right now. I got the job at Trinity Rep, which seems as if it'll be exactly the same thing I did at Barter, but less hours and less stress....sounds like a fabulous mix to me. Anywhos, I start in early August and have to find a place to live. Unfortunately the company doesn't provide it. Yeah, so I'm a little unsure of where to start. Well, one of the other electricians volunteered to help point me in the right direction and he told me where to definitely not live. I like him already because that's something that was really worrying me. And I started looking on Craigslist...unfortunately, most of the stuff on there probably won't even be available in July, and so I wonder if I'm not wasting my time, or if I should continue searching anyway? Arg.

Songs
Both of these were posted on friends facebook walls and I though I'd hold onto the link while also not clogging up my bookmarks. So here they are.

Left foot, right.
My friend Daniel posted this in his facebook page, he wrote it.

Left foot, right.
I think I'm driven to walk by desperation. There's an unseen force haunting my every footfall, riding my calves, and racing up and down my tendons. Every step does not merely precede the next, but forces a building momentum that continually crescendos to an unsustainable peak.
I would run if I could. On my best of days, I can manage a short sprint - pacing myself against the inevitable consequences of exertion, I push myself to an exhilarating high before my limbs declare defeat and bring my head down from the sky.
Some days, I throw all caution to the wind. I conquer a mountain peak, chosen purely by whimsy, and chase myself to the top. There, I savor the wild and heady rush coursing through the air, infecting my body and soul. Then, I throw myself headlong down the path, racing with abandon to an unknown goal. There is a certain high, an adrenaline we seek, derived from taking your life in your hands and hurtling down the mountainside. Racing through pine groves, leaping from boulder to boulder, and gaining stride on even paths, I pick up speed. The world is shut out, all cares are gone. The stakes are unbearably high, but satisfyingly single-minded: left foot, right. Don't miss or you die.
When I was young, my father told me stories from his father. The old, wise sage taught us both about the steps we take in life, and what will follow. Yet, no one could prepare me for the steps I did not, and cannot take.
I walk from desperation, I think, each step mirroring the finite pulses of my heart - a ticking time-bomb counting the beats until the footfalls stop.

How absolutely true and breaktaking. Well put my friend, well put.

Hola
Hey there. Nothing too exciting going on in my life recently. I'm trying to get a bunch of things crocheted so that I can sell them online and at craft fairs that I'm hoping to attend. Anywhos, working a bunch and Mom's nagging me about getting back in the theatre. Well I'm off to bed. Gnight.

I want to go backpacking!
So, um, I want to go on a backpacking trip down a portion of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania.....anybody want to go with me? But first I need to get some gear.....and I think I've decided that I want to go with a hammock instead of a tent...it just seems easier. Easier to set up, easier to carry, more comfortable at night, and it gives a larger array of places to camp. Ya know? Anyway, here is the one I want:

It's got the mosquito netting built in so you don't have to fight with putting up netting. Then if it rains I'll run a line above my hammock between the trees, throw a tarp across it and clothespin the tarp to my hammock. Throw a sleeping bag in the hammock and merry christmas, happy new year, you've got yourself a comfortable bed without leaving the ground squashed down. Anyway, so now I'm trying to save money so I can make this little adventure happen. Anybody want to help with that?

Avatar
I just finished watching Avatar for the first time tonight. The special effects were abosultely stunning and though I have read many reviews that tear the storyline apart, I rather enjoyed it. I am a girl after all and romance stories almost always make me tear up. As an artist I appreciated the beauty of each and every scene as well as the creativity. This is definitely the type of sci-fi that I enjoy watching.
The hardest thing for me to watch though was most definitely the "humans" blatant disregard for nature and the way nature interacts with itself. Jake Sulley said at one point, "See the world we come from: there's no green there. They've killed their mother, and they're going to do the same thing here." What a statement about the world we live in today. We're slowly killing it with no regard to anything. When somebody speaks up to try to teach people to treat Mother Nature better they are beat down by right-winged morons who aren't smart enough to pay attention to history or look ahead to the future. Lord forbid that they pull their heads out of their asses and Bibles and realize that being responsible stewards of what they are given includes taking care of the earth.
I think that growing up Baptist gave me great ammunition. The whole idea of being stewards of what "God" feels is proper to give was jammed down my throat. But doesn't that extend to things besides the monetary and material? Doesn't the Mother merit some thought in that? While I understand that we need to harvest trees for paper and oil and coal for power, isn't there a better way to get what we need without destroying the very thing that gives us life? If not for the earth, we wouldn't be here, sorry "God". "God" created earth too you know, and all the living things on it....funny how some people pass over what they don't want to read and then take everything else out of context.
But anyway, tirade over. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Avatar and would advise others to see it. If you disagree with me, I've never claimed to be a movie expert, I can only tell you what I like.

HatWorld and blankets
I worked at HatWorld tonight with Kristin. She's pretty cool and when I work with her we always have a good time. I also made really great percentages tonight and sold a couple of passports and a pair of sunglasses. We had a couple of customers come in with their girlfriends who were really bitchy. The one girl thought that every hat her boyfriend put on was ridiculous and that he was a poser because he didn't play or watch any basketball or baseball (he was putting on team hats). She was just very good at putting him down, hopefully she's not like that all the time. If so I can totally understand why guys get tired of dealing with girls. I hope that at least one of my friends would smack me upside the head if I ever got that way with my boyfriend.
Whatever. I started a new purse tonight, a pattern that I've used a couple of times before. I'll post new pictures of it when I finish it. Here are some pictures of a blanket I just finished.

Dog Town, small town style
Starting a new blog.....does anybody know how many times I've done this? Probably about a dozen, and generally I stick with it for about a month before my postings become more and more infrequent. Oh well, what can I say? When I'm working my regular job of a theatre electrician I have very little time to do anything other than the most necessary duties of life. So I'm going to try this again now that I'm not working all of the time.
Because I'm not working 75 hours a week anymore I have no idea what to do with myself when I have a day off so I decided to volunteer at a local no kill shelter. Today was my first day. I drove up the drive and parked and I could definitely could here the dogs barking. It didn't help any that I parked right in front of a Rottie's kennel. I believe his name was Turner....beautiful dog. I picked up poop in the "basement dogs'" run and took 5 dogs on short walks. I also sat in the basement dogs' run with them and just loved and petted whoever came up to me. Cassidy, a beautiful brown mutt variety sat with me almost the entire time I was in there. The two puppies, Annie and Lou, would come up randomly and jump up on me which I tried to stop them from doing. Duncan, a lab mix I'm guessing, was a trouble maker chewing on almost anything you put down for too long, but he was a sweet dog. Although, of all the dogs I interacted with today I think that Cassidy was my favorite, she's a great dog and I hope she can find a great home soon, she deserves it. And she's almost got the concept of fetch under her belt....the dropping the ball part was the only difficulty. I also toured the shelter today and they have such a random mix of dogs including a couple of beautiful pit bulls, rottweilers, sheltie/collie mixes, lab mixes, a st. bernard, and a bunch of random mutts. I really look forward to going back and helping out again!
